Geç adölesanların covıd-19 öncesi ve sürecinde geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarına yönelik tutumları ve kullanım durumları: tanımlayıcı çalışma

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, geç adölesanlar ın koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 [coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)] öncesi ve sıra- sında geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamaları kullanımlarını ve tu- tumlarını değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu çal ışma, kesitsel-analitik türde, Haz iran-Eylül 2021 tar ihleri arasında tabakalı örneklem yöntemi kullanılarak belirlenen 882 geç adölesan ile yapıl- mıştır. Araştırma verileri “Sosyodemografik Form”, “Geleneksel ve Tamamlayıcı Tıp Uygulamalarına Yönelik Soru Formu” ve “Bütüncül Tamamlayıcı ve Alternatif Tıbba Karşı Tutum Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde student-t, One-way ANOVA ve bağımlı örneklem t testler i kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmada, geç adöle- sanların bütüncül tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tıp uygulamalarına karşı tu- tumları ile cinsiyet, gelir algısı, kronik hastalığa sahip olma, COVID-19 tanısı alma değişkenleri arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Geç adölesanların en fazla b ildikleri yöntemlerin masaj (%85,1), meditasyon/gevşeme (%77,4) ve dinî yöntemler (%77,3) ol- duğu saptanmıştır. COVID-19 salgını öncesi ve COVID-19 salgını sı- rasındaki kullanım durumlar ı incelendiğinde ise masaj d ışında tüm uygulamalarda artış görülmüştür (p<0,001). Sonuç: Sonuç olarak bu çalışmada, geç adölesanlar ın COVID-19 sürec inde geleneksel ve ta- mamlayıcı tıp uygulama kullan ım durumları artmıştır. Geç adölesan- lar COVID-19 sürec inde bu uygulamalar ı daha az ac ı çekmek, hastalığın yan etk ilerini azaltmak ve hastal ıkla direkt savaşmak ama- cıyla artırdıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Buna rağmen COVID-19 sürecinde geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı uygulamalarının etkileri ve yan etkileri üze- rine kanıt temelli çalışmaların yapılması ve adölesanların bu uygula- malar konusunda bilgilendirilmesi oldukça önemlidir.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the use and attitudes of trad itional and complementary med icine practices of late adolescents before and dur ing coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). Material and Methods: This cross-sectional-analytical study was con- ducted with 882 late adolescents determ ined using the strat ified sam- pling method between June-September 2021. Research data were collected with the “Sociodemographic Form”, “Question Form for Tra- ditional and Complementary Medicine Practices” and “The Attitude to- wards Hol istic Complementary and Alternat ive Med icine Scale”. Student t, One-way ANOVA and dependent sample t tests were used to evaluate the data. Results: In the study, a statistically significant differ- ence was found between the attitudes of late adolescents towards holis- tic complementary and alternative medicine practices and the variables of gender, income perception, having a chronic disease, and being diag- nosed with COVID-19. Massage (85.1%), meditation/relaxation (77.4%) and religious methods (77.3%) were found to be the most common meth- ods of late adolescents. When the use cases before the COVID-19 ep i- demic and during the COVID-19 epidemic were examined, an increase was observed in all applications except massage (p<0.001).Conclusion: As a result, in th is study, the use of trad itional and complementary medicine practices in late adolescents during the COVID-19 process has increased. Late adolescents stated that theyincreased these practices dur- ing the COVID-19 process in order to suffer less, reduce the side effects of the disease and fight the disease directly. Despite this, it is very im- portant to conduct evidence-based studies on the effects and side effects of traditional and complementary pract ices in the COVID-19 process and to inform adolescents about these practices.
