This study aimed to examine the relationship between earthquake-related trauma severity and smoking status in individuals affected by earthquakes. The study sample consisted of 488 earthquake survivors (57.1% women) older than 18 years old who were placed in dormitories in an earthquake-safe area after the Kahramanmara & scedil;-centered earthquakes in 2023. The study data were collected two months after the earthquakes using an information form and the Scale that Determines the Level of the Trauma after the Earthquake (SDLTAE). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t tests, one-way ANOVA, and binary logistic regression at the significance level (p <.05). The findings showed that 75.2% of the individuals experienced severe trauma. According to the results of the present study, gender, the need for psychological support, earthquake-related losses, and smoking related to trauma. Being a woman, seeking psychological support, experiencing earthquake-related health problems, facing earthquake-caused material losses, and increased smoking after the earthquake were significant predictors of earthquake-related trauma. This study, conducted two months after the earthquake, aimed to measure the early effects of the earthquakes. Studies are also needed to analyze the long-term impact of earthquakes.
