Öğe The acute effect of anaerobic peak power and capacity on antioxidant parameters in basketball players: Cross-sectional research(Türkiye Klinikleri Yayınevi, 2022) Soslu, Recep; Özer, Ömer; Taş, Murat; Uysal, Abdullah; Gündüz, KeremThe aim of this study is to determine the free radical formation and the acute response of the antioxidant mechanism in the neuromuscular fatigue test applied to basketball players. Mate- rial and Methods: A total of 27 professional basketball players (Age: 21.40±2.02 years, Height: 187.93±8.84 cm and Body Weight: 82.51±12.55 kg), actively playing in the Turkish Second Basketball League, constituted the study population. The Wingate anaerobic strength test was used to determine the acute neuromuscular fatigue index of the athletes. Superoxide Dismutase, Glutathione, Catalase, Malondialdehyde and blood Lactate values were determined before and after the Want test. Analyzes of intergroup and in group parameters were performed with the Two-Way Repeated Measures MANOVA test. Results: It was determined that the athletes had an increase in the post-test Superoxide Dismutase and Glutathione value and there was a statistically significant difference between them and the pre-test (P=0.000). There was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test Catalase values of the athletes (P=0.217). It was determined that the athletes had an increase in the post-test Malondi- aldehyde value and there was a statistically significant difference be- tween them and the pre-test (P=0.016). It was observed that there was a statistically significant difference of 1.91±0.815 (mmol.L) in the lac- tate pre-test value and 6.44±2.25 (mmol.L) in the post-test value of the athletes (P=0.000). Conclusion: As a result, it can be said that high anaerobic power and capacity cause an increase in antioxidant enzymes in acute neuromuscular fatigue and prevent free radical formation by forming reaction chains.Öğe Basketbol ve voleybolda tek taraflı counter movement sıçrama değerlerinin karşılaştırılması(Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey Üniversitesi, 2021) Makaracı, Yücel; Uysal, Abdullah; Soslu, RecepHücum ve savunmadaki aksiyonların optimum düzeyde gerçekleştirilmesi bakımından basketbol ve voleybolda sıçrama kapasitesi ön plana çıkmaktadır. Temelde sıçrama özelliğinin yoğun olarak kullanıldığı iki branşa ait bulgular incelendiğinde; voleybolcuların dikey sıçrama ile karakterize değerlerde daha iyi sonuçlar ortaya koymasının, tek taraflı sıçramanın voleybolda birçok teknikte baskın oluşu, sporcu profili ve vücut kompozisyonu gibi faktörlerden kaynaklandığı düşünülmektedir.Öğe Bilateral counter movement jump, squat, and drop jump performances in deaf and normal-hearing volleyball players: a comparative study(Korean Soc Exercıse Rehabilitation, 2021) Makaracı, Yücel; Özer, Ömer; Soslu, Recep; Uysal, AbdullahSince deaf athletes do not have any physical deficiencies, it is known that they can easily participate in sports competitions if their communication problems are resolved. This study aimed to compare the performances of olympic deaf and elite normal-hearing volleyball players in different jumping test protocols. A total of 26 male volleyball players participated in the study, comprised of 12 olympic level deaf and 14 elite level normal-hearing. Following anthropometric measurements, athletes performed bilateral counter movement, squat and drop jump tests on a force plate. Each test was performed 3 times with maximal effort separated by 45 seconds of passive recovery and the mean of the three trials was selected for analysis. Independent Samples t-test was used to compare the differences in mean values of jumping test parameters between the groups. Normal-hearing athletes are observed to have significantly better scores than deaf athletes in all test protocols. Con-sidering thatthe number of studies on athletic performance in deaf ath-letes is limited, it can be said that our study will contribute to research-ers and coaches in respect of detecting a key ability in volleyball, such as jumping, in different jump protocols.Öğe Center of pressure-based postural sway differences on parallel and single leg stance in Olympic deaf basketball and volleyball players(Korean Soc Exercise Rehabilitation, 2021) Makaracı, Yücel; Soslu, Recep; Özer, Ömer; Uysal, AbdullahIn sports such as basketball and volleyball, loss of balance due to the inability to maintain body stability and lack of postural control adversely affect athletic performance. Deaf athletes appear to struggle with balance and postural stability problems. The purpose of this study was to examine postural sway values in parallel and single leg stance of Olympic deaf basketball and volleyball players and reveal differences between the branches. Twenty-three male athletes from the Turkish national deaf basketball (n=11) and volleyball (n= 12) teams participated in the study. After anthropometric measurements, the subjects completed postural sway (PS) tests in parallel/single leg stances with open eyes and closed eyes on a force plate. PS parameters (sway path, velocity, and area) obtained from the device software were used for the statistical analysis. The Mann-Whitney U-test was used to compare differences in PS parameters between basketball and volleyball players, and the alpha value was accepted as 0.05. Volleyball players had significantly better results in parallel stance and dominant leg PS values than basketball players (P< 0.05). There was no significant difference between the groups in nondominant leg PS values (P> 0.05). We think that proprioceptive and vestibular system enhancing training practices to be performed with stability exercises will be beneficial in terms of both promoting functional stability and interlimb coordination. Trainers and strength coaches should be aware of differences in the postural control mechanism of deaf athletes.Öğe COVID-19 and postural sway: a comparison of individuals with a SARS-CoV-2 history and healthy sedentary women(Guilford Press, 2023) Kocaman, Hikmet; Soslu, Recep; Gökşen, Ayşenur; Uysal, AbdullahPurpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) on postural sway in subjects who have recently recovered from infection. Materials and methods: Fifty-six female individuals with a mild to moderate history of SARS-CoV-2 (n = 25, mean age; 21.13 ± 0.64 years) and healthy sedentary controls (n = 31, mean age; 20.09 ± 1.05 years) were included in the study. Postural sway tests were performed in double and single-leg stance on a force plate with eyes open before and after the neuromuscular fatigue test. The Wingate test was used to induce neuromuscular fatigue. To evaluate the change of the variables determined by the measurements of the groups over time and the group-time interactions, a two-way analysis of variance in repeated measures (mixed design repeated measures ANOVA) was used. Results: It was found that the SARS-CoV-2 group showed increased total sway path, velocity, and area than those in the healthy group on double and single-leg (right-left) stance (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Even if SARS-CoV-2 group individuals have been reported in a mild to moderate outpatient COVID-19 process, they showed deterioration in postural control compared to healthy individuals. In addition, it was found that SARS-CoV-2 accelerated neuromuscular fatigue effects. This can cause more fatigue during activities than individuals who have not had SARS-CoV-2.Öğe Deaf and non-deaf basketball and volleyball players' multi-faceted difference on repeated counter movement jump performances: Height, force and acceleration(Frontiers Media S.A., 2022) Soslu, Recep; Özer, Ömer; Uysal, Abdullah; Pamuk, ÖmerThe aim of this study was to compare the performances of Repetitive Counter Movement Jumping (basketball/volleyball) of deaf/non-deaf athletes. Athletes playing in the Turkish Deaf Basketball and Volleyball national teams and in Basketball and Volleyball First Leagues participated in the study. The study group consisted of 51 male athletes, including deaf basketball (n = 11; age: 26.18 ± 4.79 years), deaf volleyball (n = 12, age: 26.33 ± 4.27 years), non-deaf basketball (n = 14, age: 26.93 ± 4.87 years), and non-deaf volleyball (n = 14, age: 24.93 ± 5.10 years) players. As a result of the test, Jump Height from Take Off Velocity, Jump Height from Take Off Velocity, Jump Height from Flight Time, Counter Movement Acceleration, Push Off Acceleration, Average Velocity, Average Power, and Average Force were analyzed. Differences in the jump performances among the groups (deaf basketball and volleyball, non-deaf basketball, and volleyball) were tested by one-way analyses of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey's post-hoc follow-up testing when necessary for jump test. As a result, this is the first study to investigate the number of jumps and jump height, the force produced, acceleration at the time of jump, and jump velocity during 30 s in deaf and non-deaf basketball and volleyball players within the scope of individual Repeated Counter Movement Jump test. Based on the biomechanical changes according to our results, our findings show a greater decrease in the number of jumps and jump heights, the force produced, the acceleration at the moment of the jump and the jump velocity in all athletes, especially those that affect the deaf.Öğe Effects of high-intensity interval training program on pituartry function in basketball players: a randomized controlled trial(Frontiers Media Sa, 2023) Soslu, Recep; Uysal, Abdullah; Devrilmez, Meltem; Can cuvalcioglu, Ismail; Dogan, Ali Ahmet; Karaburgu, SulbiyeThe aim of the study was to determine how the short high-interval training program affects cortisol levels in basketball players. A total of 27 male basketball players volunteered for the study and were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Control Group (CG) (n = 13, mean age; 20,56 +/- 1,45 years, mean height; 184,53 +/- 6,65 cm) and Experimental Group (EG) (n = 14, mean age; 20,71 +/- 2,12 years, mean height; 86,51 +/- 8,21 cm). The experimental group received a 7-week interval training program. Blood samples were taken at the beginning and end of the study. Cortisol, Adrenocorticotropic Hormone, Triiodothyronine, Tetraiodothyronine, Parathyroid Hormone, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Insulin, and Glucose levels were measured of the EG and CG. To test the differences between groups and compare the effects of pre and post-intervention, a two-way ANOVA for repeated measures was used. Consequently, the post-test levels of TSH, PTH, and ACTH in the exercise group showed a significant difference when compared to the pre-test values (p = 0.000). Moreover, the post-test levels of Glucose, Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL, and Mg in the exercise group showed statistical significance when compared to the pre-test values (p = 0.000). Significant differences were seen in the post-test PTH and ACTH levels of the control group when compared to the pre-test values (p = 0.000). Furthermore, the exercise group showed significant differences in post-test values for HDL and Cholesterol compared to the pre-test (p = 0.000). In addition, when comparing the post-test values and pre-test values of both the exercise group and the control group, it was found that all parameters, with the exception of Ca, exhibited substantial differences in favor of the exercise group. It may be claimed that the implementation of interval training has favorable outcomes on pituitary function parameters. Additionally, the regulation of energy consumption during exercise is favourably influenced, along with the reduction of physiological stress resulting from prolonged exercise.Öğe Spinning egzersizlerinin antioksidan ve nitrik oksit üzerine etkisi(Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey Üniversitesi, 2023) Uysal, Abdullah; Soslu, RecepBu çalışma 6 haftalık spinning antrenmanlarının antioksidan kapasite ve indüklenebilir nitrik oksit sentaz parametresini, akut ve kronik olarak nasıl etkilediğini belirlemek için planlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak 6 haftalık spinning antrenmanlarının VO2max değerini ve antioksidan kapasiteyi arttırdığı bu yönüyle spinning antrenmanlarının etkili olarak uygulanması sonucuna varılabilir.Öğe Validity and Test-Retest Reliability of a Smartphone App for Measuring Rising Time, Velocity, Power, and Inter-Limb Asymmetry During Single-Leg Sit-to-Stand Test in Female-Trained Athletes(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Makaracı, Yücel; Nas, Kazım; Gündüz, Kerem; Uysal, Abdullah; Orange, Samuel T.; Ruiz-Cardenas, Juan D.The aim was to determine the validity and test - retest reliability of the Sit to Stand App variables (rising time, vertical velocity, and power) for measuring single-leg sit-to-stand (STS) test compared to those derived from ground reaction force data. Twenty-seven female athletes performed the single-leg STS test over three consecutive sessions simultaneously recorded with a force plate and the smartphone app. Validity was assessed with Pearson's correlation coefficient, intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), and percentage error. Reliability was assessed with the ICC. Almost perfect correlations (r >= 0.95) and excellent agreement (ICC = 0.96-0.97) between the app and force plate measures with low percentage errors (<= 7.3%) were found. The app showed good-to-excellent reliability (ICC = 0.88-0.92) with no differences in inter-limb asymmetry over three sessions. The app was highly valid and reliable for measuring single-leg STS performance. Practitioners can use this app to assess lower-limb performance in female athletes.
