| dc.description.abstract | ÖZ Sanat eserleri, yüzyıllardır bireylerin duygu ve düşüncelerini ifade etmenin en güçlü yollarından biri olmuştur. Sanatta deformasyon ise bireyin ve toplumun çatışmalarını görünür kılan önemli bir anlatım biçimi olarak öne çıkar. Mehmet Güleryüz, sanatsal pratiğinde bedensel deformasyonu merkeze alarak politik ve toplumsal eleştiriyi güçlü bir şekilde yansıtır. Onun eserleri, yalnızca estetik kaygılarla sınırlı kalmaz; dönemin politik ve sosyal meselelerine dair güçlü bir mesaj ve eleştiri sunar. Güleryüz’ün deforme beden pratiğindeki nedenlerinden biri dönemin siyasi koşullarıdır. Güleryüz’ün erken döneminde Türkiye’de meydana gelen darbeler ve muhtıralar, sanatçıların anlayışlarında radikal değişimlere yol açmış; özellikle figüratif sanatta önemli bir değişime neden olmuştur. Güleryüz'ün eserlerindeki ifade biçimi ve bedensel deformasyondaki vurgu da siyasi atmosferin insanlar üzerindeki etkisini açıkça göstermek için bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır. Bozulmuş oranlar, çarpıtılmış yüzler ve abartılı mimikler, bireyin otoriter rejimler karşısındaki kırılganlığını ve maruz kaldığı şiddeti yansıtmaktadır. Diğer taraftan deformasyon, toplumsal eleştirinin bir parçası olarak da karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Grotesk yaklaşım, bireyin yalnızca siyasi otoriteyle değil, aynı zamanda toplumsal normlar ve değer yargılarıyla mücadelesini de gözler önüne serer. Karikatürize edilmiş figürler, abartılı jestler ve bedenin bilinçli bir şekilde çarpıtılması, insanın toplum içindeki konumuna yönelik sert bir eleştiridir. Bu anlatım dili, sıradan olanı rahatsız edici hâle getirerek seyircinin düşünmesini, sorgulamasını ve yüzleşmesini amaçlar.Bu araştırma, deformasyonun tarihsel kökenlerini ele almakta ve Güleryüz’ün deformasyon anlayışını dışavurumculuk ve grotesk anlatım bağlamında incelemektedir. Ardından sanatçının eserleri deformasyon ve grotesk bağlamında incelenmiş, dışavurumcu sanat anlayışı çerçevesinde görsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Sonuç kısmında ise deforme beden anlayışı ile verilmek istenen mesajlar ele alınmış, Güleryüz’ün sanatında deforme figürlerin politik ve toplumsal eleştiri aracı olarak nasıl kullanıldığı vurgulanmıştır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT Works of art have been prominent forms of self-expression for centuries. Deformation as an artistic tool stands out as one of the essential tools of expression that renders societal and individual conflicts visible. Mehmet Güleryüz focuses on bodily deformation in his oeuvres to pursue political and social criticism in a striking manner. He does not limit his work to aesthetic concerns, but always presents social and political criticism of the period in his compositions. One of the reasons for Güleryüz's portrayal of deformed bodies is the political conditions of his period. The coups and memorandums in Turkey during Güleryüz's early period led to radical changes in the artists' approaches and caused a significant change, especially in figurative art. Güleryüz' emphasis on bodily deformation and his distinct modes of expression are tools to emphasize the impact of the political atmosphere on people. Distorted proportions, distorted faces, and exaggerated facial expressions reflect the fragility of the individual in the face of authoritarian regimes and their violence. On the other hand, deformation also partly serves as social criticism. Güleryüz’s grotesque art style reveals the individual struggle not only against political authority but also against social norms and value judgments. Caricaturized figures, exaggerated gestures, and conscious body distortion directly criticize the individual’s role in society. By making the norms disturbing, this language of expression aims to make the audience think, question, and confront reality. This study analyzes Güleryüz’s works in the context of deformation and the grotesque, examines the historical origins of deformation and Güleryüz's portrayal of deformation in the context of expressionism and grotesque, while using a visual analysis method within the framework of expressionist art. The study concludes with the messages conveyed through the deformed body, emphasizing how deformed figures are used as a means of political and social criticism in Güleryüz's art. | |
