Özet
Arzuların dışavurumu olarak kabul edilen ütopyalar, kurgusal ve zihinsel oldukları için bir bakıma soyuttur da. Ancak ütopyaların belli bir mekânda vuku bulması, onların soyutluğunu kısmen ortadan kaldırmakta ve onları gerçekliğe yaklaştırmaktadır. Dolayısıyla mekân ile ütopya arasında doğrudan bir ilişkinin var olduğu varsayımına dayanan bu çalışmada, ideal toplumlarda ideal insanların ideal mekânları tecrübe etmeleri ve bu ideal mekânlardaki pratikleri ekolojik ütopyaların manifestosu kabul edilen Ekotopya adlı eserden hareketle incelenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında öncelikle “ütopya” ve “mekân” kavramları açıklanmış ve bu iki kavram arasındaki ilişkisellik ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Akabinde çalışmanın temelini oluşturan 1975 yılında yayımlanan Callenbach’ın Ekotopya adlı eseri genel hatlarıyla incelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise çizilen kavramsal çerçeve, Ekotopya’da yaratılan mekânı incelemek için kullanılmıştır.
The utopias which are an expression of the desires of mankind are also a intangible as they are fictional and mental. However, the fact that utopias take place in a certain space partly remove their intangibility and bring them closer to reality. This study is based on the assumption that there is a direct relationship between space and utopia. Thus, this study examines the ideal people in ideal societies and their experiences in ideal spaces. The experiences in these ideal spaces have been examined from the work called Ecotopia, which is considered the manifestation of ecological utopias. In the study, the concepts of “utopia” and “space” are explained and relativity between these concepts is revealed. Then Callenbach’s Ekotopia (1975), which the basis of this study is examined in general terms. In the last part, the conceptual framework is used to examine the space created in Ecotopia.
